Jessica Townsend: Silverborn – The Mystery Morrigan Crow (Hachette Children’s Books 2025)

Nevermoor is on the verge of a new era. Those who know can already see signs of change. Morrigan Crow has been living in Nevermoor for three years, where she is a member of the Wundrous Society. She finally feels happy among her friends and found family. However, she is burdened by a secret and does not know if she can share it with anyone. However, she does not have much time to think about it, as she unexpectedly learns that her relatives live in Nevermoor, and they are not just any family: one of the most prominent families of the Silver District. Has she finally found the place she truly belongs to?

Morrigan is a teenager… She will soon be 14 years old. You could say she is at a difficult age… And she, like anyone else, is intoxicated by the sudden luxury. Like other people of her age, she often does not express herself well, which leads to a series of misunderstandings. Unlike the previous volumes of the series, the story is slower, but also more complex, and in addition to the girl’s special abilities, her human side also can be seen. Another important aspect of the story is how important one’s roots and past are, especially for someone who never knew their family.

Australian author Jessica Townsend grew up in Queensland and published her first story when she was 7 years old. She later worked as a copywriter and magazine editor before becoming a full-time writer. She moved to London at the age of 22 and has lived alternately between London and Queensland for the last 10 years. Her first book, Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow, brought her worldwide fame. The first volume of the series was presented at the Frankfurt Book Fair, then won several prestigious awards and several translations were published. The series are planned to be a nine-book-series, with the fourth volume being published in English this year after a long wait.
