I read a lot of good books in 2022.
My favorite book was The Last Cuentista by Donna Barba Higuera. The story completely captivated me. I read it twice right away and I can’t wait for the author’s next book.
I also really liked A Comb of Wishes by Lisa Stringfellow which has a serious, touching theme, and the LGBTQIA+ Answers in the Pages by David Levithan, which got me interested in contemporary fiction. Phil Hickes’ Aveline Jones series also became my favorite, not because the story is exciting and a little scary, but because it is very nice.
In 2022, I got to know Flavia Sorrentino’s illustrations and I was completely enchanted. I even started collecting the books illustrated by her.
I couldn’t ignore Robin Stevens’ Murder Most Unladylike series further, so I started reading the volumes of the series after it was published in Hungary. The second volume will be published in Hungarian in February.
I re-read some of my favorites also: the final part of Dominique Valente’s Starfell series was published, so I’ve re-read the third volume before that. I have read One of Us Is Lying by Karen M. Mcmanus and The Okay Witch by Emma Steinkellner in English before, and now I have also read them in Hungarian thanks to Maxim Kiadó. Agatha Christie’s Caribbean Mystery is my favorite, I re-read it again in 2022, but probably not for the last time.
One of the most beautiful books I read was Lana Del Rey’s first book of poems. I hope there will be more of them.
I look forward to see what books 2023 has for me…
