The book features loosely connected stories that introduce the department store employees and dream designers through the eyes of Penny, whose old dream came true when she started working at the store. We also get a glimpse into the lives of regular customers and understand why and how dreams help them in their real lives. If you sleep better after reading this book or have nice dreams, it could be the work of your subconscious, or because you found a good deal in the store.
Miye Lee is a South Korean author who graduated in materials science and then worked as an engineer at Samsung. DallerGut Dream Department Store is her debut novel, which was published entirely through crowdfunding and was very well received. The story is a duology, the second volume has also been published. The translator, Sandy Joosun Lee, lives in Seoul and has translated several Korean novels and animations to English.
